Police said they responded to the shooting at a cookout party near 141st and Wood streets at about 10:08 p.m. where a 30-year-old Chicago man was shot multiple timesThe victim was transported to University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Authorities have not released his identity.
Investigators were seen collecting evidence, with grills and food items left over, showing the sudden nature of the event. A large police response from Illinois State Police and Cook County Forest preserve police spanned much of the overnight hours while the playfield was closed for the investigation.
