Investigators are working to determine what caused a fatal fire in northeast Houston.

One person died and a second person was hospitalized early Wednesday when a fire broke out at a home in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to a report of a house fire in the 10900 block of White Thorn Street, near Little York Road around 1:45 a.m. Those first at the scene worked to rescue two people from the blaze, but one person died at the scene, Capt. Troy Lilley of the fire department told On Scene reporters. First responders took a second person to a hospital.“One victim was found in the hallway,” Lilley said. “Another victim was found in the bedroom.”Investigators with the department’s arson team were working to determine the fire's cause.
