The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. on Loop 410 eastbound near Austin Highway, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.SAPD said a driver entered the highway at a high rate of speed, did not see traffic stopped ahead of them and was not able to slow down before rear-ending a second vehicle.
The officer on the scene said the speeding driver then spun out sideways and collided with two other vehicles. Fire crews and police confirmed that three people were transported to a local hospital. One of them was transported in critical condition. The other two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.According to TxDOT, all six eastbound lanes — including both shoulders — were blocked.
Around 4:45 p.m., SAPD said officers were in the process of reopening traffic to one lane on Loop 410.Nate Kotisso joined KSAT as a digital journalist in 2024.
