Piero Ferrari, son of Enzo Ferrari, commissioned a special Daytona SP3 inspired by his father's legacy. The car features a white and blue livery reminiscent of John Surtees' 1964 F1 championship-winning car and a classic 250 LM.
The car has a white and blue paint theme inspired by the F1 car driven by John Surtees in 1964. F1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc recently picked up the keys to their own SP3s. The sexy supercar is powered by the brand's revered 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 .
Even though the Ferrari F80 has yet to hit the market, many believe it's not an appropriate successor to the iconic LaFerrari, due mostly to the fact it has a heavily-boosted V6 assisted by a trio of electric motors, which sounds disappointingly muted, instead of the brand's iconic V12. Some think the Daytona SP3 should have been marketed as the brand’s latest flagship hypercar, and after seeing the one owned by Piero Ferrari, it’s easy to understand why. Like the LaFerrari, the Daytona SP3 is an ultra-limited special and powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12. It’s built around the chassis of the LaFerrari Aperta and is certainly one of the most spectacular Ferraris launched in recent years. Piero Ferrari is Enzo’s only living son and owns a 10% share of the Italian brand. In speccing out his Daytona SP3, he looked through the history of the brand formed by his father and took inspiration from the F1 car driven to victory in the 1964 championship by John Surtees. He was also inspired by a one-off white and blue 250 LM that was commissioned back in the 1960s. Most of Piero’s SP3 is bathed in white but features a dark blue stripe running over the length of the car. The blue trimmings continue across the rear fascia and it all looks spectacular. Ferrari hasn’t released any detailed images showing the cabin of the car, but a clip of Piero driving around Fiorano shows it has red leather seats and a host of exposed carbon fiber accents.
